J.C. Poma
Executive Director of Sports, Visitation and EntertainmentJ.C. has a passion for sports and the community. He’s a former college athlete who’s been involved in the region’s sports scene for 15 years. J.C. serves as the county’s first executive director of sports, visitation and entertainment and is ready to help make your next event a success in Chesterfield.

Matt Mullen
Sports Relations & Operations ManagerMatt knows Chesterfield well as he grew up playing sports throughout the region before playing baseball at the collegiate level. As events & operations manager, Matt’s goal is to show others the fields and the fun in Chesterfield County by delivering an unparalleled experience from start to finish. Outside of Play Chesterfield, Matt enjoys cheering for the Richmond Spiders and rarely misses a Spiders’ home basketball game.

Eli Parks
Event Services SpecialistIn his event services role, Eli works with clients to ensure that events run smoothly from start to finish. He is your go-to for all things like facility rentals, vendor operations and so much more. And he won’t stop there! Once your event is completed, Eli will check in to gather feedback on how we can better serve our clients. Outside of work, you can likely find Eli playing his guitar, providing lessons to local youth baseball players, or checking out the best pizza spots in the county.

Mary Anne Wilson-Woodel
Sports Relations CoordinatorMary Anne is the Sports Relations Coordinator, serving as the main contact for county fairgrounds and all indoor sports such as basketball, cheer, wrestling and futsal. She supports co-sponsored organizations from start to finish and manages internal logistics. Her recreation career began in 1995 on an Army base in Germany, igniting a lasting passion for community engagement. With over 29 years of experience in Parks and Recreation across multiple Virginia counties, she brings leadership and dedication to every project. Outside of work, Mary Anne enjoys fishing and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, attending games with family.

Ronnie Hobson
Sports Relations CoordinatorRonnie Hobson is the Sports Relations Coordinator, specializing in rectangle and turf field management. A former multi-sport high school athlete and UNC Wilmington graduate, she began her career with Chesterfield as an intern and has held various roles in programming, scheduling, and event permitting. With over 20 years of experience, Ronnie is a trusted resource on youth and adult sports in the county. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and following women’s college basketball and softball.

Shana Howlett
Sports Relations SpecialistChesterfield native Shana Howlett is the Sports Relations Specialist, overseeing scheduling for all diamond and court sports. With 12 years’ experience—including four full-time in recreational sports—she’s dedicated to fostering inclusive athletic programs. A VCU alum with a Master’s in Sport Administration from Arkansas State, Shana also brings experience from roles at VCU Athletics, the Richmond Flying Squirrels, and Richmond Raceway. A former high school basketball player, Shana remains active and involved in sports and recreation. She’s also a talented musician, playing drums, piano, guitar, and bass—bringing creativity and rhythm to everything she does.

Katie Hardell
Community Engagement ManagerKatie pulls from her experience as a competitive high school and collegiate athlete to help ensure everyone’s time in Chesterfield is nothing short of elite. She works closely with private venues, nonprofits, and Chesterfield businesses to create memorable home-grown events and experiences for both residents and visitors alike. She is passionate about story-telling and uniting multiple area businesses around causes like Chesterfield Restaurant Week and our partnership with the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center. An avid sports fan, Katie roots for the Kansas City Royals and the Tennessee Volunteers. When Katie isn’t working, she’s often serving as a referee for women’s college basketball and lacrosse.

Elizabeth Hart
Digital Media CoordinatorElizabeth (Liz) has over 10 years’ experience in the social media/marketing industry and applies her knowledge to help build the Play Chesterfield brand. As a former collegiate athlete, she understands the importance of teamwork, communication and passion. When not at work, you can find Liz out and about either hiking Chesterfield County trails with her family, checking out the newest restaurants, breweries and dessert shops, or cheering on her sports-obsessed children at their softball and soccer games.

Cole
MascotMeet Cole, Chesterfield’s mascot. Yes, he’s a coal-mining raccoon. You can read about his story here. Cole’s main duty is to greet the residents and visitors of Chesterfield and ensure their time here is unforgettable. We like to say that he has the best job in the world – putting a smile on everyone’s face! He is friendly and approachable so if you see him, don’t hesitate to snap a photo with him and tag us on social media. You can find Cole at various events throughout the county.
