The Play Chesterfield Scholar Athlete of the Year program, presented by SINA Experiences, recognizes outstanding student-athletes from Chesterfield County Public Schools who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, sportsmanship, community involvement and character. Each year, student-athletes representing Chesterfield’s public high schools are selected to participate in a countywide recognition program celebrating their achievements on and off the field.
About the Program
Each year, the Director of Student Activities at each Chesterfield County public high school selects two outstanding student-athletes to represent their school as Play Chesterfield Scholar Athlete finalists. These student-athletes are recognized for their achievements in academics, athletics, leadership, sportsmanship, community involvement and character. Throughout the year, finalists are celebrated through Play Chesterfield and CBS 6 and receive scholarship awards in recognition of their accomplishments. The program culminates at the annual Chesterfield Sports Hall of Fame celebration, where one male and one female finalist are named the Play Chesterfield Scholar Athletes of the Year. Their names are permanently displayed at the Chesterfield Sports Hall of Fame at River City Sportsplex, connecting Chesterfield’s next generation of leaders with the community’s rich sports legacy. The inaugural Class of 2026 featured 22 student-athletes representing all 11 Chesterfield County public high schools. Erika Fiege of Midlothian High School and Daniel Lewis of Thomas Dale High School were selected as the 2026 Play Chesterfield Scholar Athletes of the Year.
