2025 Induction Class

Congratulations to the
Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025!

  • Charles McLeod – A graduate of Matoaca High School, McLeod was named All-District, All-Region and All-State in basketball. He became VCU’s first Black basketball player and helped start the first Black student organization. A 2016 inductee into the Legends of Matoaca High School and a 2021 CCPS Bravo Award Winner, McLeod has used his career to give back to his community.

  • Lennie Pond – A lifelong native of Ettrick, Pond is a heralded NASCAR driver who raced for years at Southside Speedway before going on to win the 1973 NASCAR Winston Cup Series Rookie of the Year Award. After finishing his Cup career with 234 starts, 88 top 10 finishes and one victory at Talladega, Pond came back to Southside Speedway in the late 90’s to run in the late-model division.

  • Megan Walker – A graduate of Monacan High School, Walker led the Chiefs to three state basketball championships. She was named the 2017 Gatorade National Player of the Year and went on to UConn, where she became a First Team All-American. Walker was selected ninth overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty.

  • Rudi Johnson – A graduate of Thomas Dale High School, Johnson began playing football at the age of six with the Ettrick Trojans of the Chesterfield Quarterback League. He attended Butler Community College and later Auburn University, where he rushed for over 1,500 yards in just one season. Best known for his time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Johnson earned Pro Bowl honors after setting the Bengals’ single-season rushing record.

  • Sean Marshall – A graduate of Manchester High School, Marshall was a standout pitcher at VCU before being drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the sixth round of the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft. During his career with the Cubs and later with the Reds, Marshall amassed 37 wins, 16 saves, and a 3.66 earned run average.

  • Shannon Taylor – A graduate of James River High School, Taylor started her field hockey collegiate career with the University of Richmond before transferring to Syracuse, where she earned First Team All-American honors in 2008 and led the NCAA in both goals and points. In 2010, Taylor joined the U.S. National Team and was a key contributor on the squads that won gold at the 2011 Pan American Games. She also competed in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

  • William Henderson – A graduate of Thomas Dale High School, Henderson, nicknamed “Boogie,” was a football standout at UNC . He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 1995 NFL Draft and went on to win the 1997 Super Bowl. Henderson is in the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame after finishing his career in fifth place for most games played in the team’s history.
